LEEP Procedure - Loop Electrosurgical Excision for Abnormal Cervical Changes

If you have abnormal cervical cancer screening result, your physician may suggest that you have a loop electrosurgical excision procedures (LEEP) as part of the evaluation or for treatment. LEEP is one way to remove abnormal cells from the cervix by using a think wire loop that acts like a scalpal. An electrical current is passed through the loop, which cuts away a thin layre of the cervix.
